1. Process concept
Fiberglass Chopped Strands
(The fibers are chopped) in a hand-held gun and fed into a spray of catalytic resin aimed at the mold, and the deposited material is cured under standard atmospheric conditions (shown in Figure 1).

2. The main material
The resin matrix is mainly polyester resin, and the fiber material is limited to glass fiber roving.
3. the main advantages
i) Widely used for many years.
ii) Methods for rapid deposition of fibers and resins.
iii) Low cost.
4. the main disadvantage
i) Laminates tend to be resin-rich and therefore overweight.
ii) Contains only short fibers, severely limiting the mechanical properties of the laminate.
iii) Resins require a low viscosity for spraying, which often compromises their mechanical/thermal properties.
iv) High styrene content in spray resins generally means they are more hazardous, and their lower viscosity means they have a greater tendency to penetrate clothing, etc.
v) It is increasingly difficult to limit airborne styrene concentrations to legal levels.
5. Typical application
Simple shells, light-duty structural panels such as caravan bodies, truck fairings, bathtubs, shower trays, and some dinghies.
